Unity and Freedom (A British Literature story made by microscope pictures).

A party that ruled over half the world... Blanketing its gaze, making sure totalitarianism was kept secure.
¨The eye of the party . . . Like a satellite never letting its gaze leave whoever it saw. . .

The party's minds were foggy. Knowing and questioning nothing except the one thing that
was driven into their heads: Total domination of even the minds of the commoners.

The wars and famines that enveloped the world before the party came to dominate,

resulted in the peaceful world transforming to a withered one enveloped by darkness.

The civilians, knowing barely anything about how the past was, believed that
they lived in a world of harmony under the rule of the party. While large in numbers,

they were like sheep, following the shepherd, not questioning until now whether this was the right

thing to do.

It was as if a miracle went across the commoners as one day people began to question

the rule of the party. As elders used this to their advantage, telling the generation about how

the past was, it was then that people realized they were really just caged from light itself
and the reality was they were brainwashed to an almost inhumane state.

The most important day mankind faced arrived: The Revolution of the World. The people
gathered, forming a union - forgetting ethnicity and other kinds of differences - in order to not fall
from the party. However, as soon as news came to the rulers that the commoners tried to shed light to their plan, they retaliated violently, sending swarms of troops to engulf the rebels. And that is how the war thus started.

The rebels are shown retreating from a battle seven months later. As they are running through a swamp, a monster with one arm rises from the mud devouring any soldier he could get his hands on.

The men turned on the monster and fought in an attempt to pierce their swords

through its skin. However, they soon saw it was in vain as the weapons broke against his

enchanted skin. In fear, the men retreated further, trying to escape the monster's grasp.

Sitting on the plains, the men made a campfire. They looked across the fields in despair, wondering if all this fighting was really in vain; if they ever even stood a chance against the towering giants in the first place. As they thought of it, they saw the flowers moving in the breeze: swinging back and forth in unison. It hit them right then that the flaw they failed to see was they didn't work as a team. While they had formed a union, the attacks were uncoordinated while the party's army was always planned and prepared. With this flaw now fixed, the men jumped to their feet; determination spreading across their eyes.

With both sides even in power, the armies fought desperately, clashing back and forth like light and darkness trying to consume one another.

When the rebels finally overtook the party's army, they were faced with the rulers themselves: towering over all else with weapons incomparable to those of the rebels.

While the rebels didn't have advanced weapons like the party did, they had strength in
teamwork and numbers and together with their swords, they pierced the party until only a defeated and broken down party remained.

As the rebels celebrated their victory for the world, they saw the sun rising and the lush of green rise from the earth itself and they knew that they were to make sure the world was never to be consumed by darkness and corruptness again.

Korea's #1 known food gone rotten or no?

Yes, yes! now you may be wondering what the #1 food is I'm talking about here
which is Kimchi! (Ironically I don't like the spiciness in these lettuces while
I pour tabasco or any kind of hot sauce on other things).

Finally, the question everyone's likely asking: What are these things seen in these pictures??
Kimchis are known as the "vegetable probiotic food" for it contains the healthy bacteria similar to what yogurt has: Lactic acid bacteria in addition to vitamin C and antioxidants. These things you are seeing are bacteria! Not those that try to eat you alive but those that are there to help your body live!
It was stated in one of the LA Times's articles that "The kimchi will prevent constipation and enhance their digestive functions," by a man named  Byun Myung-woo, head of a team of scientists who developed a specially sterilized form of kimchi for astronauts.
Kimchi is beneficial to your body and while your taste buds may not have the fondness to it like
it does to In N Out Burgers or Souplantation, remember that this is what will help your future life!
Choose wisely at what you eat!
(I should be telling myself that now)

Bark of the tree

While it may seem to look like a piece of a green seaweed from the ocean, this is actually the skin or outer layer of the tree called bark. Occasionally I've noticed the bark of the trees in my neighborhood begin to peel off like old paint when a new layer isn't added.

The tree the bark came from (pretty unique shape I must say).

40X

The bark of the trees serve as the skin of the tree and like reptiles, shed away old bark and grows new bark. However beware: If a tree is seen with bare wood beneath the bark or has fungus, it means it is suffering from environmental problems.

100X

There are two parts of the bark: An outer layer called the periderm which consists of dead tissue cells with parts of the inner layer, and the inner layer, also called the rhytidome consisting of living tissue cells.

The outer bark forms a barrier from the abiotic and biotic environment for the tree.

Hairy Glider

40X

What could be this hairy looking picture be? It's a bee's wing!

A bee has four wings on it, two are in the rear and are small. The ones in the front are bigger and are attached to the small ones by hooks called hamuli.

As a bee gets older, it actually has wings that become more and more tattered while young ones have fairy intact wings. (Doesn't hugely affect it when its doing its job).

100X

If you're assuming that bees flap their wings up and down like birds in order to fly, you are
dead wrong. Unlike what most of us assumed, bees flap their wings almost as if it was a helicopter (though not entirely horizontal like helicopters). In a unique fashion, bees make their wing's angle in a certain degree to create small vortex-like shape with the wind. These have lower pressure than the air pressure around them and thus bees are able to fly.

We got a bargaining peel here or no?

"What is this??" You may gasp as you look at these pictures. The truth is, these are apple peels!! (They look quite different from how you see an apple with just your naked eye).

40X

As we all know, the main reason most of us eat apples, besides it being sweet and tasty, is because it's a healthy diet to eat and has plenty of minerals to supply us. However, while some of us prefer to not eat the peel, it was found that most of the apple's minerals and nutrients come from the peel itself.

Not only minerals, but two-thirds of the fibers the apple has are actually in the peel!
Just as explained from the celery, the fiber can help in your cardiovascular system
and also the digestive system as well.

With the minerals, nutrients, and fibers, there's one final thing that the peel consists of which our body needs as mandatory: Vitamins!
About 72 percent of the apple's antioxidant Vitamin E and the Vitamin D, used for building bones, are in the apple's peel.

Eat healthy! Remember what's good for you to eat!

400X

You can see the individual cells well along their vacuoles (big clear circles) and organelles (smaller stuff). Personally it seems as if the cells contain a large amount of water due to all the irregular shapes.

Ocean of grainy salts

40X

Green like algae and grainy as the sand, these pictures show salt from actual salt water.

The ocean is a life source to us! From the deep and almost unending tides,

we extract water through evaporation and leave one single element from the mixture: salt, one of

our most dependent elements for surviving!

100X

Why is it that these minerals are in a light greenish color? Isn't it supposed to be clear or white?

Well yes that is true, normally the salts we use at the dinner table are white. However when looking at it through a microscope, the light shining beneath actually reflects in the salt and thus gives it the unusual color we don't see everyday in salt.

400X

Now you can see why your mouth twists when you get ocean water in your mouth! There are so much salt in the water that it is impossible to count them. I always wonder: How could the salt have gotten into the ocean in the first place and why it is just in the ocean!

The beauty of a dried tear

 The magnificent crystal-like pictures...

Comes from tears created by technology

40X
At a first glance, they look like pieces of abstract art one may have drawn. However,
it is really just the tears drying into abstract shapes.
These frozen artifacts of beauty are actually from a single drop of artificial tear.
Compared to salt water or our tears in general, it is shown here that there are no
minerals.
However, the beauty of the frozen artifact makes up for it
as there are not a lot of other things that may look as detailed or aesthetic as this tear under the microscope.

400X

Artificial tears are used for treating dryness and irritation.

They are also even used in eye examinations and to moisten contact lenses.

If you would like more information regarding these artificial tears,
please scroll to the bottom of this page after viewing the pictures
Thank you!

Tear or artificial tear, it will never disappear entirely and

will show traces of beauty left from its previous existence

                                                                    as a liquid.

What are Tears?

The eyes have both internal and external fluids. Tears are the external fluid. They flow over the eye’s front surface (cornea and sclera) keeping it moist and removing tiny particles of dust and debris. This helps to keep vision clear, removing potential obstacles to the passage of light. Each time we blink, the tears are spread over the eye surface.

Three Tear Ingredients

Tears have three layers, each containing a different ingredient with a different purpose. Each ingredient is produced by a different set of glands.
Sebum – the top layer. Sebum is oily and prevents the tears from evaporating quickly. It is produced by little glands along the eyelids, both upper and lower.
Water – the middle layer. Water provides the main volume of tears and is produced by the lacrimal gland, situated beneath the outer end of the eyebrow. Water helps the tears to spread more easily and helps them remove bacteria from the eye surface.
Mucous – the lowest layer. It is produced by tiny cells in the conjunctiva, the membrane that lines the eyelids and covers the cornea and sclera. Mucous bonds to the water molecules and helps to distribute the tears evenly.

Three Kinds of Tears

There are always tears on the eye surface, even in dry eyes (less tear film in that condition). This ever-present kind is called the basal tears and they contain many elements such as glucose, potassium, and sodium. They also contain some ingredients that fight bacterial infection and are part of the immune system.
Reflex tears are stimulated by a physical cause such as onions, bright light, or spicy food. They provide extra cleansing for the eye surface.
Psychic tears are caused by either physical pain or strong emotions. They may be tears of grief or of joy. They contain a natural painkiller and more of certain hormones. They are accompanied by changes in breathing and some facial reddening and swelling.

A colorful petal to a dull and lifeless one

When you first view these pictures, what do you immediately assume?

These pictures show the petal of a flower called an orchid!

40X

When we look at it in the beginning when it has color and life, it shows that the cells
of the petals are almost in a smooth pentagon or hexagon shape with a nucleus in the center.

100X

400X

The cells each have a nucleus - which consists of the cell's DNA - and also a
cell wall on the outer part of each of their bodies.

After waiting a month and looking once again at the petal, I was surprised when I saw that the petal's cells seemed to have all been broken from their usual form and the 3D looks they once retained were now replaced with a flat dull appearance.

What was most surprising however was that even though everything else looked different, there was one thing remaining good as new: the nucleus,
ultimately showing that even when a petal of a flower dies, their DNA won't fade away and thus still retain the identity of the petal.
